Cedars-Sinai to Honor Steve Nash at Sports Spectacular 29th Anniversary Gala

Steve_Nash1LA Lakers star Steve Nash will be honored at the upcoming Cedars-Sinai Sports Spectacular 29th Anniversary Gala for his philanthropic work.

The 40-year-old NBA player will be awarded with the Spirit Award, highlighting his many philanthropic efforts in the community at the gala, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on May 18th. 

He will accept his award alongside Tony Gonzalez, who will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and UFC President Dana White, who will be presented with the Visionary Award for changing the landscape of sports.

They will join the ranks of former Sports Spectacular honorees, of whom include Hope Solo, Colin Kaepernick and Jason Collins.

The event will once again be hosted by The Insider’s Kevin Frazier, along with Jim Hill and John Salley.

More than 1,800 prominent sports figures, entertainers, and business, civic and community leaders will be on hand to support and celebrate the charitable contributions made by their peers and the event’s honorees. The evening is being sponsored by American Airlines, Gelson’s Markets and Ares Management.

This year’s benefit will raise funds for the new Sports Spectacular Health & Wellness Center at Cedars-Sinai, which was created in an effort to combat diabetes and obesity by funding new medical research and encouraging healthy eating and exercise.
