The Startling Interiors of Dubai’s Newly-Opened GQ Bar

Now one of Dubai’s most popular cafes, the newly launched GQ Bar in the JW Marriott Marquis has introduced its stylish interiors and design with Bash Hesnef as the creative mastermind behind the design. The idea was to create a contemporary yet classical and sophisticated restaurant, bar and lounge, offering a masculine counterpart to VOGUE Café at The Dubai Mall, also designed by Hesnef.

Set across two floors, the sleek, modern interiors of GQ Bar provides a refined yet cozy environment for their patrons. Keeping the dining area dark and the bar warmly lit, the modern backdrop of the venue is decorated with iconic GQ memorabilia lining the walls, adding a touch of authenticity. While the swivel doors of the kitchen allow a full view of the chefs busy in action, the décor and wall projections around the bar remind the guests of the stylish GQ brand.

The contemporary linear fireplace on the ground floor lounge is the ideal place to kick back and relax after dinner. The higher level compliments the ground floor with a further raised lounge area, which includes a customized ‘Cigar Bar’ setting with brown leather sofas and hard wood floors. A uniquely artistic light installation is suspended between both floors, connecting the restaurant, bar and lounge areas with an innovative feature.

In addition, the darkly lit granite staircase leads to the second floor overlooking the venue, complete with relaxed seating and an antique look. The space is also finished in black glass and 3D patterned walls, red abstract feature lighting and bespoke elements to add an element of to the venue. From the bar, guests are able to access a custom-designed terrace with a raised deck equipped with an electrical pergola system for a smart open-air setting where they can indulge in shisha and cigars.

This new subdued and swanky hot spot is sure to lure travelers and those seeking respite from a hectic work day.
