Donald Sterling‘s banishment from the NBA leaves the LA Clippers ownership in flux: and Hollywood’s most powerful residents are seeking to purchase the team in the wake of his departure.

Those residents would be mogul David Geffen, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and Lady O herself, Oprah Winfrey.

“Oprah Winfrey is in discussions with David Geffen and Larry Ellison to make a bid for the Los Angeles Clippers should the team become available,” Nicole Nichols, a spokesperson for Winfrey, in a statement.

The three could become one if a sale of the team is forced. Earlier this week, NBA commissioner Adam Silver pledged to force the sale of the Clippers after audio recordings of racist remarks made by owner Sterling surfaced on TMZ.

There has also been discussion that Magic Johnson, a former partial owner of the LA Lakers, would purchase the team.

Though he initially tweeted “I am not trying to buy the Clippers, they already have an owner,” he has since changed his tune. During the Milken Conference this week he stated, “I have been saying ‘no’ all the time. I think we will see what happens. I will be owning an NBA team sometime. It has to be the right situation. Is the Clippers the right situation?”
