Haute 100 LA Update: Brad Pitt Attacked at ‘Maleficent’ Premiere
Brad Pitt was meandering along, smiling supportively at partner Angelina Jolie and signing autographs during the Hollywood premiere of her Disney film, Maleficent, when he was suddenly attacked by troublemaking bystander.
During the Wednesday night premiere event at the El Capitan Theatre, a man hopped a security barrier and is said to have attacked the actor, according to Los Angeles Police Sgt. Leonard Calderon, who added that the Oscar-winning actor was struck in the face.
The man accused of marring Pitt’s perfect visage is 25-year-old Ukrainian journalist Vitalii Sediuk, whose troublemaking at red carpet events has been well documented.
Among his infractions: Sediuk crawled under America Ferrara‘s dress earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival at the How To Train Your Dragon 2 premiere, clutching the leg of Bradley Cooper at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards and, similarly, clutching onto Leonardo DiCaprio at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and appeared to try to kiss Will Smith on the lips at the Moscow premiere of Men in Black 3 back in 2012; he also tried to crash the 2014 Oscars wearing a swan dress and carrying a bucket of Oscar replicas.
This time, however, Sediuk may have gone too far: according to police, he was arrested on suspicion of battery.
Both Pitt and Jolie handled the situation like consummate professionals, continuing to walk the red carpet gracefully after the incident.
