Fashion Designer Philipp Plein Is Opening a Store in NYC

Good new trendy New Yorkers—fashion designer Philipp Plein is opening a store in Manhattan! Last year, the Swiss-based fashion guru opened outposts in Los Angeles and Miami, and now he’s bringing his edgy designs to the Big Apple with a new 2,000-square-foot store at 625 Madison Avenue between 58th and 59th street.

“We already opened a showroom in New York, and this was the next logical step,” he told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s a very mature and educated market. I’m opening a store on Madison Avenue and not in SoHo or the Meatpacking District because we’re a luxury brand. It’s important for the first store to have the right address.”

The new store will carry apparel and accessories for men, women, and children, and of course, the designer’s signature Swarovski skull sculpture—made from an astonishing 50,000 crystals—that is found in the entrance of his other outposts.

Ultimately, Plein says his plan is to expand his aesthetic to other parts of the country. “The next step is San Francisco, Aspen and Las Vegas,” he reveals. “After that, we’d like to open corners in department stores.”
