Elton John has createda charitable fund in the memory of late house music pioneer Frankie Knuckles.

Through his Elton John AIDS Foundation, the musical iconic has announced the inception of the Frankie Knuckles Fund, which will provide assistance to charities working with men at high risk of HIV in Africa, as well as African communities in the U.S. and United Kingdom. It will provide information, treatment and testing to said foundations.

Of his reasons for creating the fund, Sir Elton said: “Frankie was such a lovely man and a great talent and his legacy provides a powerful voice to reach out to people, particularly men of color, about their essential role in helping to create an AIDS-free future.”

Scott Campbell, the Executive Director of EJAF USA, added: “Through the creation of this fund, Frankie Knuckles’ music industry legacy will be transformed into a movement for health and empowerment in the black community … Frankie’s name and image can help us reach into black communities with urgently needed information and services.”
