The Alliance for Children’s Rights organization had a big evening at its 22nd annual gala dinner on Monday, as $1.3 million was raised for Los Angeles County foster youth.
1,000 guests gathered at the Beverly Hilton to to honor the Disney Media Networks’ co-chair and Disney/ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney and well as White Collar star Willie Garson.
Tom Bergeron emcee’d the 22nd annual event, while Maria Shriver, Selena Gomez, Malin Akerman, Matt Bomer, Betsy Brandt, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Denise Richards and Jake T. Austin were among the prominent attendees. Jimmy Kimmel provided the evening’s entertainment.
Maria Shriver presented Sweeney with the National Champion for Children Award for her longstanding commitment to children and family, particularly children with special needs. Garson accepted the Francis M. Wheat Community Service Award from his son, Nathen Garson, a former foster child whom he officially adopted in 2010.
The Alliance for Children’s Rights protects the rights of impoverished, abused and neglected children and youth. By providing free legal services and advocacy, the Alliance ensures children have safe, stable homes, healthcare and the education they need to thrive. Since 1992, the Alliance has helped 125,000 children.
