Ever wonder what the most powerful leaders, business execs and celebrities keep on their desks? Well, we’re about to tell you. Our biweekly “What’s on My Desk” feature will take a look inside the offices and at the desks of the world’s most influential power players.

This week we’ve featured the desk of Caudalie co-founder Mathilde Thomas. Mathilde and husband Bertrand Thomas got the idea for their haute skincare line in 1993. Whilst in the Bordeaux region of France among the vines on the family owned vineyard, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte during its grape harvest, the couple met Dr. Joseph Vercauteren, the world’s leading expert on grape and grapevine polyphenols. Upon visiting the vineyard, Dr. Vercauteren noticed the leftover grape skins and seeds from the harvest and explained that the polyphenols in the grape and grapevines had extraordinary anti-oxidant power. It was from this knowledge that Caudalíe was created in 1995. The brand recently celebrated the opening of its flagship spa and boutique on Abbot Kinney in Venice in order to provide gorgeous skin to Angelenos. Here is a look at the items on the desk of a woman who is providing the City of Angels with truly heavenly skin.
