UCLA Hosts Environmental Benefit at Anthony Pritzker’s Private Estate

UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES) chose to host its annual An Evening of Environmental Excellence benefit at a truly gorgeous location: the private Beverly Hills home of Hyatt Hotel heir Anthony Pritzker and wife Jeanne. 

The event honored the extraordinary environmental accomplishments of Lawrence Bender, U.S. Representative Henry Waxman, and Linkin Park.

Actress Cheryl Hines emceed the evening, which was attended by Courteney CoxAnjelica Huston, Johnny McDaid, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.Josh Flagg, Scottie Thompson, Linda BenaddiDevon Aoki and Lisa Sheldon, among others.

After accepting the Emerald Award for Environmental Advocacy, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park received a standing ovation for their special acoustic performance of “Shadow Of The Day” and “What I’ve Done.”

The star-studded gala also featured a cocktail reception, live auction, dinner and a stand up comedy performance by Bryan Callen.

The UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES) tackles environmental challenges by reaching across disciplines – physical, life, and social sciences, business and economics, law, public policy, engineering, urban design, and public health. Their mission is to generate knowledge and provide solutions for regional and global environmental problems.
