Those heading to Coachella in 2015 or who plan on having a weekend of fun in the Palm Desert are about to have one more haute option for an overnight stay.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company will open its latest SoCal property, the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage, on May 15.

The new resort is located  within the Santa Rosa Mountains on a 650-foot bluff overlooking Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.

Guests will have their choice of 244 rooms and 16 suites with private spa suites designed to complement the desert surroundings incorporating natural elements of stone, fire and wood.

Most of the rooms have private balconies, as well as 42-inch LCD flat-panel HD televisions with DVD players, 19-inch HD televisions custom-designed into the bathroom vanities, individual heating and air-conditioning control, Frette luxury bed linens, Asprey bath amenities and oversized bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and a separate glass-enclosed shower.

There will be two restaurants on property: the State Fare Bar + Kitchen and The Edge, a more upscale steak and seafood eatery that is slated to open this fall.

Other amenities include a 24,000-square-foot spa, swimming and relaxation pools and preferred access to the area’s luxury golf courses and tennis courts.
