Haute Event: Celebrating Berluti’s New Store on Madison Avenue

BERLUTI Madison Avenue Maison Opening

You may already know the French house, Berluti, by its made-to-order boot making service and hand-crafted footwear and leather items. The origins of Berluti date back to 1895 in Paris and have been continued by four generations of the Berluti family. But did you know they are the hottest new men’s fashion around? Their recent party celebrates the opening of their new shop on Madison Avenue and brings the latest dimension of the Berluti world to New Yorkers’ bespoke wardrobe.

The event brought in the fashion elite all dressed in their well tailored sleek finery including publishers and top editors like Stefano Tonchi of W magazine. The shop was packed to the rafters with New York’s fashion elite. The upper level had a dramatic demonstration of shoe making. An aproned man whittled or hacked at a piece of wood into a shoe form, presumably the first step in the bespoke process. There were tailors too, which acted out the process of fitting and cutting a suit. Both brought home the fact that you can buy an entire wardrobe made to your specifications. Very haute!
