Barneys Features Transgender Models in Spring Ad Campaign
To raise awareness and offer support of the transgender community, Barneys released its new spring advertising campaign featuring 17 transgender models. Entitled “Brothers, Sisters, Sons, and Daughters,” the powerful advertorial features a collection of black-and-white photographs shot by Bruce Weber.
In celebration of inclusion and diversity, the cast includes a montage of both models and non-models from all across the world who range in age from 17 to 30.
“I was exquisitely aware that in the last decade, the L.G.B. communities have made extraordinary advances, and the transgender community has not shared in that progress,” Barneys New York Creative Director, Dennis Freedman, told The New York Times.
The luxury department store is also joining forces with the National Center for Transgender Equality and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center for the campaign. On February 11, Barneys will donate 10 percent of sales from its flagships and barneys.com to both organizations.
