Winter X Games Returns to Aspen
The countdown to the Winter Olympics in Sochi is on, but snow sports fans can get a taste of the action this week as the Winter X Games return to Aspen’s Buttermilk mountain Jan. 23-26. Skiers will soar, sleds will fly and thousands of fans will pack the Roaring Fork Valley to get in on the action for the 20th anniversary of the games. Event highlights include snowboard and ski superpipe and slopestyle competitions as well as snowmobile freestyle and longest jump. This year, many Olympics athletes will not be in attendance at the X Games as they prepare for the international stage in Russia.
In addition to four days of live events at the base of Buttermilk Mountain, X Games also presents two days of concerts in downtown Aspen’s Wagner Park. On Saturday, Phoenix plays with Matt and Kim, and on Sunday Tiesto plays with Axwell. Both Phoenix and Tiesto also play Belly Up Aspen on the same night as their outdoor performance. For more information on the concerts and the complete competition schedule, visit X Games.
