Since opening with a bang in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, which is part of the Hilton Worldwide luxury brand, is set to open in another extravagant location – on The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. The hotel will be located on the East Crescent of the Palm Jumeirah and comprise 319 rooms with views over the Arabian Gulf.

The Waldorf Astoria on The Palm Jumeirah will offer six restaurants, including Social by Heinz Beck, a New York-inspired eatery by the renowned master of gastronomy. Among the other restaurants are Lao, offering south-east Asian contemporary cuisine; Mezzerie, a locally-inspired arabesque dining restaurant; Palm Avenue, a relaxing place within the hotel’s gardens and Serafina, presenting authentic Venetian cuisine.

The centerpiece of the hotel will be the tea lounge Peacock Alley. A signature inclusion in all Waldorf Astoria hotels, it is named after the famous high-society promenade lounge that connected the original Waldorf and Astoria hotels in New York and was known as a place to be out and about.

Similarly reflecting the hotel’s heritage, is the lobby clock, an addition found in each Waldorf Astoria hotel.

The hotel includes eight naturally-lit meeting rooms; a multi-purpose ballroom that can host up to 600 people and a 200 meter private sandy beach; a relaxing spa, tennis courts and water sports facilities.

We’re all set. It will be interesting to see how this hotel compares to its grand sister in Ras Al Khaimah. We’ll soon find out.
