Haute 100 NY Update: Jay Z’s ‘A New York Holiday Collection’ at Barneys Generates $1 Million

Jay Z

For the last two months, Jay Z has been selling a line of luxury apparel and accessories at Barneys New York as part of the rapper’s “A New York Holiday” collection. In light of recent racial profiling accusations, the retailer and Jay Z agreed to donate 100 percent (instead of the originally reported 20 percent) of the collection’s proceeds to the Shawn Carter Foundation, which helps underprivileged children attend college. Barneys also pledged 10 percent of the entire store’s profits from the first day the items went on sale.

The holiday collection was sold at Barneys stores in New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago from November 3 through January 3. And it seems Jay Z fans couldn’t get enough of the custom creations, which included supple black leather backpacks, sleek black raincoats with gold buttons and 18-karat-gold double rings.

As of Friday, the luxury clothing line has surpassed the $1 million mark, reports the New York Daily News.
