Hugh Jackman Quits Harry Houdini Broadway Musical
It looks like Hugh Jackman isn’t heading to Broadway after all. The 45-year-old actor was originally slated to star in a new musical about the life of famed illusionist Harry Houdini, but reportedly dropped out due to time commitment.
“I have greatly enjoyed the collaborative process on Houdini. I have tremendous respect and admiration for the creative team and I wish everyone the best,” he said in a statement. “I know they’re well on their way to making something extraordinary.”
Despite Jackman’s sudden departure, Producer Scott Sanders has nothing but praise for the actor. “We will continue to move forward with our remarkable creative team as they craft this ambitious new musical,” he said.
A replacement casting decision has yet to be made.
