Haute 100 Miami Update: Jeff Berkowitz Plans 1000-Foot Skyrise Observation Tower
Miami has been longing for a new landmark structure, and Jeff Berkowitz has just the answer. The mega developer submitted plans for a swooping, 1000-foot tall tower with three observation decks that will offer breathtaking views of Brickell, Downtown and Miami Beach.
Plans for the Arquitectonica-designed Skyrise Miami include a restaurant, nightclub, movie theater, ballroom and private lounge. Also included in the proposal are two attractions, called “Skyplunge” and “Skyrise Drop,” that suggest some adrenaline-boosting opportunities for risk-taking visitors.
The FAA has approved of these plans and the tower is set to go up in 2014 behind the Hard Rock Café at Bayside Marketplace. Berkowitz is no stranger to grand developments; some of his best-known projects are major shopping centers, including Aventura Commons, Dadeland Station and Fifth & Alton.
