If there is one store in Miami that I could say I would shop at for the rest of my life and feel confident with that decision….it would be…… drum roll please…. At Ease on Sunset. A neutral haven full of Rick Owens, Autumn Cashmere, Current Elliott, VPL and the Row, there is something about this curated selection. It is a destination for fashion; somehow with every woman that walks in being predisposed to great style and impeccably dressed. It is all about the lifestyle of luxury.
Today I went to Sunset to visit the shop because they had a trunk show of the Fall and Resort collections of the Row (it goes through this Saturday). I took the opportunity to speak with Brendan Brown, the VP of Sales for North America, who gave me a further understanding behind Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Designer clothing company: the Row.
What are you showing at today’s trunk show?
A mix of things, Fall and some pieces from Resort as it just launched.
Tell me about the color pallet.
The Row is very neutral in pallet, so it’s subtle. We have powder blue, blue melange and clay.
How hands on are Mary Kate and Ashley when it comes to design of the collections?
They are very hands on. Mary Kate and Ashley created the line in 2007 while searching for the perfect tee. That’s the story. The pursuit. Then, they decided to find the perfect legging and blazer. It was just an organic evolution.
Where is the Row manufactured and why are the prices quite high? Explain the difference between the Row and Elizabeth and James.
The row is all made in the USA. It’s a big part of our history. There is a strong level of quality. Elizabeth and James is contemporary and licensed. This is luxury.
The girls are building an American luxury brand and setting high standards for an American brand.
I own a tee that I just can’t get enough of and it has holes but I don’t care.
We hear that a lot. People say it’s my favorite. The goal of the Row is to make women’s lives easier.
I love the famous $35,000usd crocodile backpack. Tell me more….
The bag is iconic for us. The backpack is our most iconic shape but we offer a whole range. The crocodile bags get the most attn.
