Liza Minnelli Performs at Breast Cancer Benefit with Broken Wrist
The show must go on! The legendary Liza Minnelli performed at an Actors Fund benefit for breast cancer on Monday night, despite having broken her wrist in three places only a day earlier.
Doctors had reportedly told Minnelli to skip the event at NYC’s Birdland jazz club, but the “Cabaret” star ignored their order and took the stage wearing a cast adorned with a pink handkerchief. “Nothing was going to stop me from coming here tonight,” she revealed.
The evening marked the first time in 20 years that Minnelli would share the stage with her half-sister, Lorna Luft, who recently went public with her breast cancer diagnosis. “Lorna asked me to be here and I wouldn’t let her down,” Minnelli explained.
After an all-star performance, Minnelli went to the hospital for surgery.
