Boo!: Halloween in Aspen

Zombie Punch

Aspen loves an excuse to party, and there’s no better demonstration of that than Halloween. The holiday stretches on for days, with parties book-ending the actual mid-week event. But if it’s freaky fun you’re looking for on Oct. 31, here are the stops:

  • Head underground into the depths of The Regal, where drink specials for the night include $200 bottles of crystal skull head vodka, $3 Sessions, $4 Coors Lights, $5 shots of Agave underground tequila and free Jell-O shot. With DJ Naka G on the turntables, it won’t be a quiet affair.
  • Caribou Club is a private establishment 364 days of the year, but on Halloween it opens its doors to the public. That should be scary enough for some people.
  • The biggest costume contest in town goes down at the Belly Up, with $500 on the line for first place. But, that’s only intermission to This Must Be the Band, a Talking Heads tribute group playing the rest of the evening.
  • The Halloween rounds include a stop at the Sky Hotel, which is hosting a “Wonderland Asylum”-themed party on Thursday. It’s only for those ages 21 and over, because they’ll be serving specialties like the Zombie Punch, a combination of citrus juice, Sailor Jerry spiced rum, absinthe, and orange liquer.
