September Snowfall Covers Surrounding Peaks

The leaves have barely started to change in Aspen/Snowmass, but winter made a brief debut on Monday. Peeking through the clouds in the early morning, surrounding mountains revealed snow-covered hills, with reports of up to 5 inches of snow in some places. The early season snow comes almost two months before the local ski resorts are set to open, with Aspen and Snowmass scheduled to start running Thanksgiving Day. The snow also precedes The Meeting, an annual gathering of ski and snowboard filmmakers, athletes, professionals and winter sport enthusiasts.
