Haute Partners Mondrian South Beach: Mondrian Home with Monica Minagorri and Evelyn Castro

Mondrian

The luxurious Mondrian South Beach is home to the Morgans Hotel Group’s first hotel and residences. Following a $50 million renovation and redesign by Marcel Wanders, the condo hotel is as glamorous as ever.  Dashes of red décor, poolside chandeliers and a bold black staircase convey a chic twist on Sleeping Beauty’s castle. Admirers have the chance to buy a piece of the castle in the form of studios, one or two bedroom apartments, and penthouses of which is already 70 percent sold with the help of Monica Minagorri and Evelyn Castro.

“It’s such a trendy and beautiful hotel,” Minagorri says. “It definitely brings out the best of South Beach, all in a residential area, so it’s kind of living the best of both worlds.”  Minagorri is going on three years with the Mondrian, but previously worked with a company that was developing in Mexico and lived there for two years.
“When I came to the states, Mondrian was just the perfect fit for me because the clients are really from all over the world, so it gave me an opportunity to do something that I was familiar with,” Minagorri explains. “Working with these international clients, assisting the developer, negotiating the deals, it was just a very natural step for me.” Minagorri also owns a fashion boutique, Mina Miami Beach, with her sisters, but most days you can find her working alongside Mondrian developer, Keith Menin, or on a conference call at the office.

The other half of this dynamic duo, Evelyn Castro started with Menin Hotels four years ago and knows first hand of the Mondrian lifestyle experience being a resident herself, “It’s like living in a hotel. You have the service, you have concierge, you have a bellman, if you don’t want to cook you could order room service, it’s a luxury.”
All that luxury comes at a very reasonable $600 per square foot, a price that can’t be matched by any other luxury property on South Beach. Included in residential amenities is access to the famous Agua Spa, a world-class gym, private docks, stunning views of Biscayne Bay, private poolside cabanas, and the ultimate perk: a Morgans Hotel Group global card. This precious card is given to owners at the Mondrian allowing them to make reservations at any of their restaurants, upgrades at any of their hotels around the world, and instant access to any Morgans Hotel Group clubs. “Pretty much now you’re a VIP guest in all of our hotels, not just the Mondrian,” Minagorri says. “It’s the perk all clients fall in love with.”
