The 2014 MDX is already in showrooms, and the best way to see it firsthand is to schedule a test-drive at an Acura dealership near you.

Earlier this summer, the third generation of the best-selling vehicle in Acura’s lineup hit showrooms, including Paragon Acura in Woodside, Queens. It offers higher levels of luxury, comfort and quietness than ever before. Along with improved performance, class-leading fuel economy ratings and advanced safety features, it boasts an even more luxurious, technology-packed interior.

“The 2014 MDX is the next level on a vehicle that was already great,” said Brian Benstock, Vice President and General Manager of Paragon Honda. “The fact that the MDX was already Acura’s best-selling vehicle speaks for itself, but the 2014 MDX will be an ever bigger hit thanks to the numerous upgrades.”

The 2014 MDX was developed on an all-new platform from the ground up. Key components of the vehicle have changed completely from its predecessor. The new model sports a longer wheelbase, but is lower to the ground and narrower; this helps with wind resistance for fuel-efficiency. The all-new ACE II body structure makes the vehicle lighter, stronger and safer. Acura expects the 2014 MDX to achieve the highest safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 290-horsepower direct-injected i-VTEC V-6 with fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management technology powers the MDX to an impressive 20/28/23 mpg (city/highway/combined) on the newly available front-wheel-drive model and 18/27/21 on the all-wheel-drive version.

Equally impressive, the bevy of new standard features on the new MDX includes a Keyless Access System with Push Button Start, Jewel Eye™ LED headlights and exterior/interior LED lighting. Additionally, the vehicle comes standard with Extended Slide second-row seating with One-Touch Walk-In for third-row access, an 8-inch On-Demand Multi-Information Display touchscreen, Expanded View Driver’s Mirror, a powerful 432-watt Acura sound system and acoustic glass front windows and windshield.
Like the other generations before it, Acura’s latest version of its top-of-the-line SUV was designed, developed and engineered in North America. Production of the new MDX and its powertrain will take place at the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Lincoln, Alabama.

While sales will be the ultimate factor in determining the new MDX’s success, signs are pointing to a hit if the early reviews are any indication. Car and Driver said, “the 2014 MDX remains among the sportiest and most dynamic three-row SUVs extant.” USA Today praised the MDX for its comfort, storage capabilities and its gas mileage, while Edmunds called it “a far more complete SUV than the car it replaces.” Popular Mechanics and Motor Trend also gave favorable reviews.
