Aspen’s J-Bar Named One of “Best Hotel Bars” in the Country

Hotel Jerome

The Hotel Jerome has been a hub of Aspen’s social scene since it opened in 1889, and the J-Bar has been its focal point. Today, it garners the same attention, and was recently named one of the “Best Hotel Bars” in the country by USA Today Travel. Coming in at No. 7, it’s noted for its Aspen Crud, a combination of housemade ice cream and bourbon, which was popular with the miners during the 1890s.

The entire hotel was recently renovated by Rowland + Broughton Architects and designed by Todd-Avery Lenahan. Its redesign embraces its historical roots, but includes contemporary touches and the J-Bar reflects this. The bar continues to be a meeting point for guests and locals gathering for everything from football Sundays to large family dinners.

Coming in at No. 1 and 2 were Philadelphia’s Square 1682 inside the Hotel Palomar and Chicago’s Sable Kitchen & Bar, inside that city’s Hotel Palomar, respectively. To view the complete list, visit 10 Best.
