The Staples Center is about to have some stiff competition.

It was announced this week that The Madison Square Garden Company has purchased The Forum, located in Inglewood, for approximately $23.5 million.

Officials will be giving the space a $100 million makeover to return it to its former glory in the form of a high-end concert hall.

The MSG company say their renovations will bring performers back to the Forum, hopefully along the lines of The Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley, both of whom have played there in the past.

Some of the renovations being made include new velvet seats, a center performance ring for big-scale productions like concerts, tennis matches or boxing matches, a new Forum club and a new concession area.

The Eagles will be the first big act to play at the renovated arena next January.
