Haute 100 LA Update: Tom Cruise Gives Commencement Speech at Acting School Graduation

Graduates of the Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown Studio in Santa Monica started their futures on the right foot Sunday when they were presented with one very special surprise speaker.

The students were shocked to discover that none other than Tom Cruise was their commencement speaker.

An unidentified student told the NY Post: “It was one of the most inspiring speeches we’ve had. It was so much more than a lecture about what to do in an audition.”

Tips that the Mission: Impossible star dispensed included non diva-like behavior, interacting with both co-stars and crew alike and learning “everything you can. You will never get that time back.”

Other Hollywood stars who have given commencement speeches at the college include Tom Hanks, Anthony Hopkins, Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman.
