Jason Wu Signed by Hugo Boss

First Lady Michelle Obama Donates Her Inaugural Gown To The Smithsonian

Jason Wu has just been signed by German fashion house Hugo Boss for a womenswear collection in the US and Canada. Wu’s feminine and chic designs first took center stage along with First Lady Michelle Obama when she donned his famous ivory one-shoulder gown to her first inaugural ball in 2009. A faithful fan of Wu, she sported his red gown at this year’s inauguration ball. Now Wu boasts a leading name in fashion.

Hugo Boss hopes to seriously expand its womenswear, especially in the United States and China, after decreases in womenswear sales. Jason Wu provides the consummate appointment, largely due to his popularity in both countries. “This will generate a powerful and creative statement for Boss Womenswear and show our commitment to focus even more on the female side of the brand,” said Hugo Boss Chief Executive Claus Dietrich Lahrs.

As the first Artistic Director for Boss Womenswear, Wu promises to take the role seriously. “I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand’s authority in menswear,” he announced on Monday. His first collection for Hugo Boss will debut in autumn, along with a runway show at the New York Fashion Week next year.
