Ethan Hawke Returns to Broadway as Macbeth

Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke, Oscar award-nominated actor and Tony award-nominated thespian, is hopping back onstage this winter to lead in Macbeth, Shakespeare’s darkest tragedy. The coveted role has long been a dream of his to play, as he said in the PBS series Shakespeare Uncovered. Hawke will reunite with both Broadway and director Jack O’Brien at Lincoln Center Theater, where he starred in Henry IV and The Coast of Utopia, the production that garnered his Tony nomination. Macbeth‘s latest revival, by Alan Cumming, ends this next month.

Lincoln Center will feature four plays this upcoming season, most notably Macbeth and Domesticated. Hawke’s highly-anticipated performances begin October 24, with the opening night on November 21. For those too anxious to wait until October, Hawke is currently starring in The Purge and Before Midnight.
