Aspen Golf Club Ranks Among Best in Country

Maybe it’s because the golf balls fly farther at altitude, because Aspen’s Golf Club is doing something right. Last month, GolfWeek magazine named Aspen’s municipal course the 45th best in the country, the Aspen Times reported. The scenic 18-hole course sits northwest of town at the entrance to Aspen.

The club’s best ranking was 17th out of 50 seven years ago. Since then, its rankings have continued to slip, but a top 50 ranking is still considered great for the facility, organizers said. Breckenridge’s Jack Nicklaus-designed course passed Aspen to earn a ranking at No. 34. Snow often keeps the Aspen course from opening earlier in the spring, but in 2012 officials were able to put people on the course April 5.
