On 8 May, Paul Smith held an evening of art, fashion and music at the Archives in Safa Par. Guests were surrounded by the luscious natural landscape while they enjoyed the unique blend of fashion and art creations characteristic of the Paul Smith brand.
Paul Smith invited three artists to immerse themselves within the brand’s creative universe in order to create the on-site art pieces staged at the event. These included Yasmin Richie, an artist from London who exhibited her STORYLINES UNCUT installation; Dubai-based artist UBIK who conducted an intense session of live sketching on a large blank canvas and Mariam Yakan, who drew caricatures of guests at the event. Each creation corresponded with the concept of the Paul Smith brand. “All the designs in the Storyline collection are inspired by films,” said Richie. “I wanted to show the color palette of a film without any imagery and the stripes were the perfect way to do it – they are abstract and colorful yet understated, very much like the Paul Smith stripes. What I love about the Paul Smith brand is that it’s very classic and elegant, but has an eclectic edge to it that makes the brand fun and playful while still being quintessentially British.”
Guests toured the three art stations while also making a stop at the styling corner where stylists explained how to get the ‘Paul Smith look.’ The latest Spring/Summer Paul Smith collection was displayed near the DJ Dulce’s stand – impossible to miss. The night progressed as everyone laid eyes on the brand’s limited edition Swifty scooter in the hopes of being one of the lucky ones who would take it home. Made for adults, the scooter combines the power of design and engineering to create a gadget pertinent for 21st urban mobility. Like the rest of the Paul Smith brand, the scooter is fun, elegant and cutting-edge in its design and concept.
Dubai’s social, art and fashion crowd was well in attendance as they perused the various creative sections were fashion, art and music came together in a veritable celebration of Paul Smith.
