London Readies Itself for the New American Embassy

With the new American Embassy set to open in London’s Battersea neighborhood, smart restaurateurs, hoteliers and other savvy business owners are racing to get their piece of the pie. The latest exciting addition to the rapidly growing area is Red Pocket Restaurant. Located along the riverside just minutes from Chelsea and Sloane Square, the new eatery is situated in the elegant Hotel Verta with picturesque vistas over the Thames.

Operations manager and talented chef in his own right, Weng Kong Wong (who was most recently at London’s Hakkasan) has teamed up with celebrated chef Kee Hock Teoh. The pair has skilfully blended European ingredients with classic Eastern cooking techniques for a menu that is sure to be heralded as one of the most innovative — if not the tastiest — in London. Signature dishes will include Roast Peking Duck served with Caviar, Lobster with Foie Gras Sauce and an assorted selection of mouth-watering dim sum.

The restaurant is only a short distance over the river but with the stunning selection of Chinese artwork, chinoiserie screens and authentic Eastern artefacts such as Buddha sculptures and Tibetan cabinets, diners will feel like they have traveled much, much further.
