Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was one of 482 poker pros and card sharks to take a seat in the 2013 World Series of Poker’s No Limit Hold ‘Em/Eight Handed tournament at the Rio on Wednesday night.

Phelps sported a blue V-neck T-shirt and beard and was one of 196 participants to survive and move on to day two of the four-day event. Phelps was set to begin play at 2 p.m. on Thursday, where he looks to add a gold bracelet to his gold medal collection.

The Word Series of Poker’s opening weekend will kick off in grand style this Saturday with its “Millionare Maker” event. The winner of the $1,500, one-day No-Limit Hold ‘Em tournament will go home with the grand prize of $1,000,000. Phelps and other poker fanatics will have plenty of more chances to win as the WSOP stays in full-swing until Sunday, July 14.
