A hidden treasure of calmness within the busy Dubai Mall, I visited Sisters Beauty Lounge to experience their new Warm Lava Shell massage. This new and innovative treatment claims to relieve clients of their deep aches, pains, stress and tension through natural means.
Being someone who is always on the go, often forgetting to warm up and cool down in the gym, I was more than happy to try out the World’s first naturally self-heating massage tools. Therapist Jesusa Busog greeted me and led me to one of the massage rooms. The treatment was an hour of pure bliss. Busog, massaged my arms, legs and back with oil and then glided the hot shells across me. The sensation of warmth eased away muscle tension, as she identified stress points on parts of my body.
The terrific tools used are eco-friendly sand-polished tiger striped clam shells sourced from the South East Pacific. They contain a lava gel which, when activated with some seawater salts, warms to retain heat by up to 10 to 12 times longer than the stones used in a traditional stone massage. I was amazed at how hot the shells became.
Unlike hot stones, Lava Shells eliminate the use of supplemental electricity and use only natural mineral heat with the help of Lava Gel. They are also non-porous unlike the hot stones and are therefore more hygienic. Busog explained that the contents also contain calcium carbonate to strengthen bones. She further enlightens me on how these shells are not only used to relax people but can be used on stroke patients and sufferers of rheumatism as the heat regenerates broken cells, skin and veins.
When my treatment time came to an end, I felt relaxed and ache-free. A definite must-try for all those stressed bodies in need of some tender loving care.
