Aspen/Snowmass Adds 50K Trail-Running Race to Summer Schedule

It’s a rare feat to even ski all of Aspen/Snowmass’ four mountains in one day, but summer adventurers can add running up and down them to their bucket list. Aspen Skiing Co. announced the debut of its Power of Four 50K Trail Race, set for Sunday, Aug. 4, which will cover Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk and Highlands mountains. The ultra-trail running race joins the company’s Power of Four mountain bike and ski mountaineering series.

“We love this trail running addition to our Power of Four series” says John Rigney, Vice President of Sales & Events,  Aspen Skiing Company. “It fits in nicely with our existing endurance events, and will offer an amazing backcountry feel to both competitive and recreational trail runners.”

The race begins at the base of Aspen Mountain and follows single-/double-track trails through Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass before finishing in Snowmass Base Village. Competitors will be able to race as individuals or as part of a relay team.

Registration is now open at www.aspensnowmass.com/power-of-four-50k.  Registration is $75 for solo and $95 for relay if registered before July 28, 2013. Online registration will close August 1 at 5 p.m. with on-site registration available on August 2.  No race day registration is available.
