Restaurant Story: London’s Most Anticipated Restaurant opening
London’s restaurant scene has come a long way in the past few years. Long gone are the days of suffering through pub grub and instant coffee. These days, some of the world’s best talent is flocking to the British capital looking to make a mark on the culinary scene.
And right at the top of the list of bright, young things is Tom Sellers. He started his career at Tom Aikens’s eponymous Chelsea restaurant before moving onto the touted innovative French kitchen at Elystan Street. Two and half years later he left London to work for Thomas Keller first in California at French Laundry and then at Per Se in New York. And as if that wasn’t enough, he also did a stint at Rene Redzepi’s famous Nordic restaurant Noma.
Now at the ripe old age of 26, Tom is opening up his own restaurant, Story, in London’s Bermondsey. Never one to lack in creativity, the new eatery is housed in an old toilet block on Tooley Street, which is sure to draw as much attention as his soon-to-be coveted menu.
There will be a lunch seating and dinner seating daily and diners will have a choice between a six-course (£45) or ten-course (£65) menu. Plates will include his signature bread & dripping as well as inventive dishes such as scallops, cucumber & dill ash and beef cheek, stout & cauliflower yeast.
While the restaurant doesn’t open until April 16, bookings are already being taken. All eyes are sure to be on this rising star so reserve your place now or risk being the last to know how good he really is.
