More Music, Different Location for Mammoth Festival

Snowmass’ Mammoth Festival, formerly known at the Chili Pepper and Brew Festival, will host nine acts over the two-day conglomeration of microbrews, chili cook-offs and live music performances in Snowmass Village’s Town Park June 7 and 8. The weekend headliners are Return to Dark Side of the Moon and Awolnation. Also playing are JJ Grey & Mofro, The Joy Formidable, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, STRFKR, twenty | one | pilots, Lord Huron, You, Me & Apollo, and Fierce Bad Rabbit.

The festival has previously been held on Fanny Hill, but as the event evolves, it’s moving to Snowmass’ Town Park. With the move, the organizers are also adding an option to camp. The festival’s new organizers also produce the popular Telluride Blues and Brews festival. In its 10th year, the festival aims to rebrand itself with an emphasis on music.

Return to Dark Side of the Moon features Melvin Gibbs (Defunkt, Henry Rollins); singers Corey Glover (Living Colour, Galactic); Nona Hendryx (Labelle) plus guitarist Blackbyrd McKnight (Parliament Funkadelic, Red Hot Chili Peppers); saxophonist Karl Denson (Lenny Kravitz); keyboardist Bernie Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic, Talking Heads); and drummer Sim Cain (Henry Rollins), as they explore the 40th Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”
