Fine crystal glassware company, Baccarat, is launching a hotel and condo complex in a sleek 50-story tower in midtown Manhattan. The luxury hotel and residences will rise over W. 53rd street by the end of next year. Homes are expected to range in price from $3.5 million for a one-bedroom to $60 million for a duplex penthouse.

“Guests and residents (will) admire the company’s artisanship and commitment to perfection in both service and design,” Barry Sternlicht, whose Starwood Capital Group owns Baccarat, told the New York Daily News.

The complex is being built on the site of the former midtown Manhattan branch of the New York Public Library, but plans to include a smaller branch inside the building. Crystal Baccarat chandeliers will hang from the lobby’s 40-foot ceilings, while a crystal bar with a Parisian terrace reminiscent of the Tuileries Garden will be featured inside the hotel.

“People will come from all over the world to see this hotel and building,” Sternlicht explained.

The $400 million project is expected to be complete at the end of 2014.
