Girard-Perregaux And Asia Society Honor NBA Great Yao Ming With Steve Nash

Luxury watchmaker Girard-Perregaux along with Asia Society Southern California and LA Lakers player Steve Nash feted NBA star Yao Ming on Tuesday evening in LA.

The former Houston Rockets player received the ‘Visionary of the Year’ award at the ceremony, held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel downtown.

Ming was gifted with a customized “Yao Ming” Chrono Hawk timepiece during the event, of which features a Manufacture chronograph automatic movement housed in a 44 mm stainless steel case.  This special timepiece also features Yao Ming’s special symbol embossed in vivid red on the rubber strap and transferred on the sapphire caseback.

Girard-Perregaux only created two watches of this design: the one Ming received and a second of which was later auctioned off during the evening for $16,000.

Said the NBA star: “It is with profound gratitude and humility that I received this ‘Visionary’ award when I just passed 30 years old. I will be very glad to exchange ideas and learn from each other at this event to benefit my future.”
