The Sundance Diaries Day 1: Alicia Keys + Jennifer Hudson Debut ‘The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete’

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival kicked off in a major way last Thursday.

The hottest party of the night was in celebration of Jennifer Hudson’s new film, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete.

The Oscar winner posed alongside  the film’s co-executive producer and composer Alicia Keys at the Hennessy-presented fete, held at Park City’s Julie Nester Gallery.

The film’s director, George Tillman as well as actors Mekhi Phifer and Gbenga Akinnage, also attended the event.

The movie follows two boys who are abandoned by their moms and surviving in the Brooklyn projects. It also stars another American Idol alum, Jordin Sparks.

Thursday night also marked the festival’s opening night party, hosted by founder Robert Redford at the Park City Mountain Resort’s Legacy Lodge.

Premiering films included Michael Cera’s Crystal Fairy and Bill Pullman’s May in the Summer.
