Guy Pelly and Marc Burton Open London’s Newest Hotspot: Tonteria

If you are in London and looking for a Miami-style night out, you soon discover that all roads lead back to nightlife entrepreneurs Guy Pelly and Marc Burton. These guys worked together at Mahiki (you’ll remember it as one of Prince Harry’s favorite hangouts) and the equally popular Whisky Mist. Their latest venture, Tonteria, is situated in Sloane Square so if the young and beautiful Chelsea set haven’t made it their second home yet, they will.

Tonteria is chic, but thankfully it doesn’t take itself too seriously – this is immediately apparent in the lounge’s “shot train” and piñatas used when celebrating birthdays. There is a Mexican-inspired menu with tapas for nibbling on while supping away on one of their many inspired sharing cocktails. And yes, much like Mahiki with their themed barware, here, however, you’ll be imbibing from skulls and traditional masks of Mexican lucha libre wrestlers. Add in the hammocks dotted around the room and seriously, how could you not have a good time at this place? And just to prove that South Beach has got nothing (but sunshine) on them, Tonteria’s staff uniforms have been designed by Sorapol, in collaboration with Daniel Lismore, two of Britain’s brightest up-and-coming fashion stars.
