Sneak Peek: The Academy Awards’ 2013 Governors Ball

Those who aren’t attending this year’s Governors Ball (which is everyone in the world aside from an elite 1500) will now be able to at least see what the A-list will be experiencing on Hollywood’s biggest night.

Haute Living was lucky enough to be offered a sneak peek into the Academy’s official post-Oscar® celebration.

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck was present, returning for his 19th consecutive year as Governors Ball caterer. He is joined by Academy Governor and costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, who will oversee the décor, menu and entertainment planning, as well as design the attire to be worn by the evening’s staff.

Chef Matt Bencivenga has helped to create the 50+ dishes that celebrities such as Bradley Cooper, Steven Spielberg, Daniel Day-Lewis and Robert De Niro will be eating.

In addition to the full menu, which you’ll find below, we decided to include some fun facts about what Wolfgang and his crew will be serving up. On hand will be:

  • 6,500 wood- fired Oscar shaped flat breads
  • 540 bottles 2007 Sterling Vineyards Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 540 bottles 2009 Sterling Vineyards Reserve Chardonnay
  • 2,280 Total bottles of Sterling Vineyards wine
  • 13,680 Total glasses of Sterling Vineyards wine
  • 1300 farmed oysters
  • 5 kilos American farm raised caviar
  • 600 Maine lobsters
  • 200 pounds beluga lentils
  • 10 pounds winter black truffles from Burgundy, France
  • 400 pounds Snake River Farms New York steak
  • 10 pounds white truffles from Alba, Italy
  • 10 pounds edible gold dust

The Governors Ball will take place in The Ray Dolby Ballroom on the top level of the Hollywood & Highland Center® immediately following the Oscar telecast on February 24th.
