Natalie Portman Named as Forbes’ Most Bankable Hollywood Actor

Natalie Portman may demand a high price per film, but she’s worth it.

Or so says Forbes, who compiled a list of the most bankable stars in Hollywood based on celebrity earnings versus box office grosses and budget estimates, as well as the last three films each actor starred in over the last three years that opened in more than 2,000 theaters. They then calculated the return on investment for the studios who pay his (or her) salary.

Portman, who won an Oscar in 2010 ago for Black Swan, was named the most bankable of all,  returning $42.70 for every dollar a studio spends on her.

She received the accolade mainly because it was Swan, an indie film, that cost less to make and made more — $329 million worldwide — than a big budget blockbuster.  Added to the mix were No Strings Attached, which grossed $150 million worldwide, and Your Highness, which flopped.

Kristen Stewart came in a close second because of the Twilight franchise films as well as Snow White and the Huntsman, returning an average of $40.60 for every dollar she earned.

Shia LaBeouf, Stewart’s boyfriend Robert Pattinson, Daniel Racliffe, Taylor Lautner, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin James round out the top ten.
