Tuesday was Carole King’s night, but it was Katy Perry who very nearly stole the show.
The pop singer looked so gorgeous in her emerald green Yves Saint Laurent dress and sang King’s “So Far Away” so beautifully that Jack Nicholson couldn’t help but give her a kiss — on the cheek — by the end of her performance.
Nicholson, alongside Danny DeVito and Quincy Jones, shared hosting duties at the Celebration of Carole King & Her Music show held at LA’s Dolby Theatre.
John Legend, Jakob Dylan, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Darlene Love, Jesse McCartney and Alicia Keys also served as musical entertainment during the evening. The latter’s duet with King on (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman received a standing ovation.
Producer Lou Adler and actress Darryl Hannah also attended the concert, of which all proceeds will got to Paul Newman’s charity, The Painted Turtle Camp.
