Haute Event: Hollywood’s A-List Steps Out in Support of the Children’s Defense Fund

Reese Witherspoon was a special guest presenter at last week’s 22nd annual Beat the Odds Awards hosted by the Children’s Defense Fund last week in LA.

The blonde bombshell presented Yahydia Iñiguez, a Los Angeles high school student who ‘beat the odds’, with her trophy at the ceremony.

In addition to Iñiguez, students Richard Kent, Ronoeisha Pugh, and twins Jade and Jalen Woods received $10,000 college scholarship and other services including mentoring, internship placements, leadership and job training, general support from the Children’s Defense Fund–California, as well as college counseling, SAT prep and a weeklong college tour provided by the Fulfillment Fund.

CDF President Marian Wright Edelman, along with Hollywood supporters and co-chairs Katie McGrath & J.J. Abrams, Jurnee Smollett & Josiah Bell, Carol & Frank Biondi, Ruth-Ann Huvane & Kevin Huvane, Stacey & Charles King, Liza & Conan O’Brien, Jim Toth, Laura & Casey Wasserman and Zoe Saldana represented Hollywood’s A-list at the annual gala, which was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
