1972 Lakers Championship Team Reunites to Raise Funds for the WCSMF

Saturday evening marked a momentous occasion for diehard Lakers fans.

The iconic 1972 championship team reunited for the second time in decades to attend a benefit for the West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation and its inner city outreach program, Team to Win.

Hall of Famer and top 50 player of all time, Bill Walton, acted as master of ceremonies.

He was joined by fellow Hall of Fame players Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Gail Goodrich, as well as Laker favorites, Jim McMillian, Jim Cleamons, Flynn Robinson, Keith Erickson, Head Coach Bill Sharman and Assistant Coach Bill Bertka.

Those who attended the event paid $2500 a plate at Santa Monica’s Valentino restaurant for a meet and greet with the team, a gourmet dinner and wine tasting and an auction featuring sports memorabilia, vacation getaways and unique, one-of-a-kind opportunities to spend additional time with the players themselves.

The event’s most popular auction item, which fetched $5500, included dinner for four at the home of Bill Sharman with players Keith Erickson, Flynn Robinson and Jim Cleamons.

$150,000 was raised in total.
