A salon-spa which feels more like the interior of an elegantly furnished home than that of a luxury spa, you immediately feel at ease when you enter Sisters Beauty Lounge’s Jumeirah location at The Village Mall. The interior is set out in elegant ivory hue decor with soft relaxing music in the background almost reminiscent of a French beauty parlor. Offering state-of-the-art expertise and a range of enticing treatments, it was the recently launched Caviar Manicure that I was there to try.
Immediately impressed by the level of service to the professional ambiance, this was truly an oasis of calm perfect for Dubai’s women on-the-go. I was there on a weekend, which meant that the place was fully booked and yet, it didn’t seem so. Staff kept their cool as they attended to each client. The convenient set-up enables several therapists to adhere to each client’s needs as relax and read or chat on the phone. While an informal telephone meeting is possible, the serene ambiance discourages you from it and instead lures you into relaxation.
I was there to scope out the salon’s new Caviar Manicure. Cutting-edge and glamorous, your nails get painted with little colorful beads recalling that of caviar. Delicious, some might think, but I was more concerned with how these tiny beads were going to stay on my nails. The therapist told me that they would last only for two days and hence the manicure should only be used for a special occasion – not to substitute from one’s regular treatment. The treatment gives off a 3-dimensional effect to the nails by sticking the tiny beads to two coats of base polish, resulting in a highly-sophisticated, delicate and feminine look.
Designed by London-based polish company Ciate, the manicure is now available in 30 colors allowing you to mix manicure pearls with any color combination and then layer them onto wet Ciate polish to create unique nail art. I chose a dark navy color with which to imbue my nails. At first I felt a bit silly, as if I were dressing up in some sort of costume, and then I got used to the sheen, the 3-D effect and the beautiful gleam of the little pearls.
Definitely worth a try as is a trip to Sisters Beauty Lounge in Jumeirah. The place is a real retreat from hectic city life, an oasis of calm and overall enjoyment.
