George Clooney is putting his money where his mouth is and auctioning off his Tesla Roadster in the name of charity.
The Haute 100-lister will put his sleek 2008 “Signature 100” model up for sale at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance August 19.
The car, which has only been driven 1,700 miles, is expected to fetch between $100,000 and $125,000.
Profits from its sale will go towards the Oscar winner’s Satellite Sentinel Project, a non-profit organization he co-founded with activist John Prendergast to keep an eye on the volatile border between northern and southern Sudan.
In a statement, David Gooding, the president of Santa Monica auction house Gooding & Company, described the vehicle’s sale as “an incredible opportunity to purchase a modern collector car with all the right elements: one-owner, celebrity provenance; historical significance; limited-edition rarity and philanthropic ties.”
