A popular restaurant and a high-end hotel in East Honolulu are offering their version of a Fourth of July barbecue, with food and drinks right on the ocean.
Roy’s Restaurant in Hawaii Kai is serving up classic barbecue fixings including ribs, mac-and-cheese and lemonade on July 4. The event, which is held on the restaurant’s front lawn, runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. with front-row seats to the fireworks in Maunalua Bay. Cost is $65 for adults, $30 for children. The Kahala Resort & Hotel is hosting the Great American 4th of July Bar-B-Q with an all-you-can-eat barbecue on July 4 at the oceanfront Plumeria Beach House.
The menu features hand-pressed hamburgers, jumbo all-beef hot dogs, grilled chicken, homestyle baked beans with bacon and fried garlic, short ribs, tater tots, a salad bar and a slew of desserts including old-fashioned apple pie and chocolate cherry lollipops.
There will be picnic-style fun on the beach, too, with horseshoes, croquet, bocce ball and sack races.
This event, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m., costs $49 for adults, $22 for children 5 to 12. Call (808) 739-8760 for more information or to make reservations.
