Amy Sacco Previewed Lounge #8 This Week; Will She Recapture Bungalow 8’s Glory Days?

It’s been a very good week for the ghosts of Club Row. Pink Elephant returned in miniature form last night at a new space in Greenwich Village. But a stealthier comeback took place on Tuesday night, when #8, revived nightlife empress Amy Sacco’s return to form and Bungalow 8 followup, debuted to a preview audience of friends and family (read: celebrities) on the northern tip of the Meatpacking District.

#8 sits on West 16th Street, a stone’s throw from established hotspots like 1Oak, Avenue, The Electric Room and PH-D (the last two are both in the Dream Downtown hotel). The club glut prompted neighbors to try and shut down the venue before it opened, but Sacco and her partners at LDV hospitality prevailed. Of course, it was overcrowding on West 27th Street that dimmed the allure of Bungalow 8, which for years in the early ’00s was the undisputed champion celebrity magnet, with the toughest door in town. But for now, #8’s nearby rivals aren’t detracting from the vibe at Sacco’s new baby, which earned raves from guests including Zoe Saldana, Rachel Roy and Prabal Gurung  on Tuesday.
