Haute Event: Jacob’s Cure Dream Big Gala Honors Donny Deutsch Hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb

On May 2nd, 2012 I joined an elite group of New Yorkers at famed restaurant Cirpriani’s for the 2012 Jacob’s Cure Gala. Jacobs Cure is a non-profit foundation created to find a cure for Canavan Disease: a fatal genetic brain disorder. The evening was hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and honored advertising executive and television personality Donny Deutsch for his longtime support of the cause.

Donny Deutsch has been a champion of Jacob’s Cure since hosting an event to support the daughter of a close friend in 2005. Since then, he has helped to raise over $3 million for the cause, in addition to raising the profile of the disease to a national level.

Over 500 influential New Yorkers in the fields of finance, real estate, fashion, entertainment and sports gathered together for a night filled with cocktails, dinner and entertainment. At my table were editors, journalists and Carla Facciolo from VH1’s smash hit show Mob Wives. Other guests included Jonathan Cheban, Supermodel Jessica White, among many others.

The honored all of Mr. Deutsch’s hard work, while continuing to raise funds necessary to continue lifesaving research into treatments and cures for Canavan Disease.
